Dementia Day Programme
The Anchorage
Panmure
Provides secure day programmes for older people with mild to moderate dementia
The Anchorage dementia day centre is based at 20-22 Lagoon Drive, Panmure. Operated by registered charity The Selwyn Foundation under contract to Te Whatu Ora, it provides secure day programmes for older people with mild to moderate dementia.
The centre offers a bright, warm and comfortable setting for clients, with a dedicated, sheltered area for outdoor activities and ample parking for family/whānau. Our team of qualified Diversional Therapist and Activity caregivers provide a wide range of social, cognitive and physical activities that are tailored for older adults living with dementia. These include reminiscing sessions, music and art therapy, gentle exercise, minibus outings and gardening. The programme is flexible and takes clients’ abilities into consideration, adapting to reflect the individual needs of those attending on that particular day.
Meals include morning tea and a cooked lunch.
Staff work in tandem with other community-based services to enable clients to live at home in their local community for as long as possible. Recognising that our clients may need further support over time, we work with our service partners and the person’s family/whānau to support their transition to an appropriate care setting.

Accessing the service
The day programme is available to older people diagnosed with dementia living in the community and who are referred by Te Whatu Ora’s Needs Assessment and Service Coordination service (NASC). The information gathered during the NASC assessment is used in conjunction with input from the person’s family or whānau to develop an individual care plan. If the service is full, people can go on a waiting list until a suitable place becomes available.
